To do: go and vote tomorrow.

Not really an update (or news) but  tomorrow is polling day in the general election.

I urge all of you who are able to go and vote.
For whom is a matter for you - all I am asking is use that stubby pencil on a piece of string to be powerful and participate in democracy.

Thank you for reading, I now return you to the usual silence on this LiveJournal!

Dr. Who...

...was quite enjoyable after 13 weeks of Torchwood! Last night's episode was typical Russel T. Davies type stuff but I did think it quite good. Catherine Tate wasn't as annoying as I expected, however, the jury is still out.

Snow

Yes, we had snow. About 2-3 inches deep on the car this morning. Snow continued to fall until about 11.00, but not settling on the roads. So although I can say I've driven in snow I'm not sure it really counts!

Match it for Pratchett

I had a very nice letter from the Alzheimer's Research Trust today thanking me for my Match for Pratchett donation. If you're not sure what I'm talking about then please go to either of these websites:

http://www.matchitforpratchett.org/
http://www.alzheimers-research.org.uk/

I encourage all my readers to make a donation (and say thank you to those who have already).

Spring is here...

...as proven by the first frisbee session of the year. A nice 90 minutes of throwing and catching in the sunshine - very enjoyable!

Bellringing the movie

Been meaning to post this link for ages and never got round to it. Not sure what's reminded me today but here we go.

Our band of bell ringers is always in need of more people. Therefore, we contacted the local paper as they are always after stuff to fill the pages. They came and did some interviews one practice night when I wasn't there. Then the next week the reporter came back to video us for the website - without any of my fellow ringers warning me in advance - and the result was published a few weeks later:

We did have one couple contact us about learning to ring. Unfortunately, they very quickly decided it wasn't for them.

Coventry Transport Museum...

... was slightly disappointing. Nowhere near as good as the Oxford museum yesterday. Entry is free so if you are in Coventry it could kill an hour, otherwise I wouldn't bother too much if I were you.

It appears to have been updated recently which unfortunately is museum speak for dumbing down. The galleries are quite attractive but the information about items in the collection leaves an awful lot to be desired. The place feels as if it has been designed for school parties only.

The collection itself concentrates on cars made in Coventry which is fair enough. However, it felt like an accidental collection rather than one with an actual purpose. A lot of the galleries felt like "here's a car, isn't it shiny?" rather than "here's a car, it is important because of..."

Still, the motorway was clear both ways and the weather has been nice so I've enjoyed the day out overall.

Oxford Bus Museum...

... is well worth a visit. If you like that sort of thing. Which I do. So there. I took lots of photos of some nicely looked after vehicles and felt it was well worth the £3 to get in.

One word of warning if driving there - the museum is accessed through Hanborough Station car park. Don't do what I did and spend 20 minutes driving round looking for it having not believed my sat-nav.
